Jon Dudas
Jon Dudas is the Senior Vice President, Senior Associate to the President and Chief of Staff of the University. In this role, he is the primary liaison for the Arizona Board of Regents, Arizona’s other public universities, and directly facilitates the many governance practices at the University. He also oversees the Divisions of the Office of the Secretary, UITS Administration, University Planning and the Office of Institutional Equity.
Jon worked for the U.S. government for 14 years, from 2004 to 2009, as Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, overseeing 9,000 employees and a nearly $2 billion annual budget. From 1995 through 2004, he served as the counsel for legal policy and senior staffer in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Jon has also been a partner of law firm, president of a large non-profit organization (aimed at inspiring children to pursue majors and careers in STEM) and a senior executive and member of the Board of Directors of a technology licensing company.
Dudas earned a law degree from the University of Chicago and a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Illinois.
He and his wife, Nicole, have four children; three are UA graduates and another is a sophomore at ASU.
